From Research to Platform
Roadway Insights was founded by Dr. Sami Demiroluk, who spent two decades in transportation safety, from Ph.D. research through state DOT consulting to building safety products at an enterprise software company. Across every role, he saw the same pattern: agencies had crash data but couldn’t act on it without months of consulting, specialized expertise, and six-figure software contracts.

Roadway Insights was built on a different premise: that the best safety analysis should be the easiest to access. Not by simplifying the science (every method is HSM-compliant) but by engineering away the complexity. Meet Our Founder
With 20 years in transportation safety spanning academic research, state DOT projects, and enterprise software development, Dr. Demiroluk has seen every side of the safety analysis challenge. His research focused on data-driven methodologies for identifying high-risk locations, while his industry experience revealed how inaccessible those methods remained for most agencies.
Before founding Roadway Insights, he built safety analysis products at an enterprise asset management company, where he saw firsthand how powerful tools were locked behind complex implementations and budgets only large DOTs could afford. That experience became the catalyst: build a platform where any agency, from a 5-person municipal planning office to a state DOT, could run HSM-compliant analysis without specialized staff or consultants.
